Startup Ignition Ventures Invests in 4StudentLives

At Startup Ignition Ventures, we believe, see, and act differently than other venture funds. While most of the venture world obsesses over moonshots fueled by unlimited capital and growth at all costs, we’ve built our fund around a different animal: the elephant. We seek, partner with, and back startup companies that are powerful, durable, and real; capital-efficient businesses with validated models, data-driven traction, and founders building toward sustainable profitability, not just the next fundraise. 4StudentLives (4studentlives.com), Startup Ignition’s most recent investment, is exactly this kind of company. The problem is enormous, the validation is real, and the founder earned his conviction the hard way; by living inside the system he’s now fixing.

School safety is one of the most urgent and underserved markets in the country. Not because the need isn’t recognized, but because the operational infrastructure to address it proactively has never existed at scale. Most schools still manage student threat assessments the same way they did twenty years ago: paper forms, filing cabinets, and fragmented email chains between administrators trying their best with tools never designed for this work. We believe 4StudentLives is the answer to that gap. Adam Bangerter, CEO, is the rare founder who didn’t just identify that gap, he lived it. After years in youth behavioral health watching students arrive in crisis who could have been helped months earlier, he built 4StudentLives to move intervention upstream. The platform gives school safety teams a centralized hub where threat assessments, risk scores, and support plans all live in one place. 4StudentLives is the system schools need to act on at-risk students.

This is not a solution in search of a problem. 4StudentLives went to market in August 2025 and has already secured contracts with California school districts and county offices of education, with every customer reference call we made coming back with the same word: raving. States across the country are increasingly mandating formal threat assessment protocols, creating a regulatory tailwind and a massive addressable market of districts that need exactly what Adam, and his team has built. We led the $600,000 pre-seed round because we believe this is the beginning of something that will reach schools in every state. The models for school safety exist. What has been missing is the system to run them. Now it exists.
